Process 1.
The story is an Inuit myth about a giant. He doesn't do much...he catches fish and walruses
and breaks people's boats because he's too big. <3

  1. I like the crop too, makes him feel much for giantesque{sp?}. I love the image you found, it suits the giant very well. The fog helps a ton to make him look like he belongs there. Your color choice is also really great. The piece overall is very cohesive.

  2. I really like the character development, he ended up looking great. It looks really nice with the photography especially with the color tones and what not, the only thing i could think to add is maybe one or to more drawn images to echo the figure.

  3. HES GONNA CATCH A WHALE

I think it would be awesome if you put just a liiiiiitle texture on him because he's very smooth right now and everything else isn't. But I like his eskimo clothes and those little mans back there.

  4. Your color palette is really nice and complementary!! It feels really integrated .I also like that the water and the original photo sort of has a painterly quality to some of the elements. Same with the rocks/ mountain. Ther is something really nice, too about how you're adding little shadow people - maybe they could have a little glint of light on them as well? reflecting off the water? That way they'd seem more filled with volume, but still dark and silhouette like. I also like that there is mist around the piece it seems to integrate your drawing with the background even more! Great subject matter, too - very fitting. ;)

  5. I think that everything in this piece fits together really well. Your values for the character make him fit into the space very believably. I also like the little details that you put into the piece, like the small characters in the background and the reflection of the string on the pole in the water. It lets the viewer know that you put a lot of attention into each part of the piece. One thing that I think could be improved on, though, would be to add a little more detail or color to the small background characters, since they wouldn't be in silhouette if they were really there. Maybe you could draw them really simply, then blur them out to put them in perspective. One final thing I really like about this piece is the texture for the fur on the Giant's parka. It makes it look furry in a very believable way.

  6. The colors in this are super awesome! I think you could take out the figures at this point, but if they were a little more detailed, I would leave them in. I also like how you edited the photo to make it a little more red to help everything blend together. It looks like you added a little shadow under his butt (and that's good), but I think a small shadow behind his feet would help too.

  7. This is so darn cool. If you make prints of this, may I please purchase one? He fits in so well with your piece, I wish that there was a bigger copy up here for me to look at! Nice work girl!

  8. I really question what he is fishing for in such a tiny river? Giant man fish? *shrug*
I love how well your giant man fits in this photograph! The filters work quite nicely also. I feel like the style you drew in this fits an Inuit culture or something. I don't quite know how but it could be the colors you chose?
Anywhoo didn't notice the people standing there were something you drew in.
    Awesome job!

  10. You did really well at integrating things, especially by using color. The way you use that rusty color in both the jacket and the rocks. I didn't even realize the rocks had been altered till I looked at the earlier version. The fogginess works great as well.
