  1. PUT A RAT ON IT!

I like the guys in the background and how they look like they're kinda avoiding her. Also it's more obviously a plague thing that way. I know you're super used to working in photoshoop. It came out well and I like how you started on a solid color, that probably helps the overall color scheme a lot.

  2. This is nice. It isn't very plague like, but it is still a good image. I like the apothecaries in the background, they are creepy and foreboding, but this broad looks like she could handle her self and ef em up with her nicotine death breath.
I really like the textures that you have going, they play really nicely into the ambiance that you have going on.
I would just like to see something more plague like in the image, but overall you execution is pretty great.

  3. I love your character design of the girl! Also your color pallet is working well, very misty and musty.
I'd like to see the rat on the girl pop out a tad more. Just a few highlights or core shadows

  4. I think it's very plague-like; just in an interpreted, fictionalized way.

Your coloring is beautiful and I love how her skin looks like it was done in thick oil paint. (I wish there was a close-up!) I like that you took the time to develop characters and setting as well.. Nice work

  5. This might not exactly have to do with this assignment specifically, but I really like the style of this piece. Everything is very expressive, but at the same time it seems fairly realistically drawn. When it comes to the plague theme, I think the smoke and the masks that were put in add to that a lot. One thing that I think could be improved about this piece would be to do something with the middle right of the piece. Right now, it just doesn't fit in with the rest of the drawing. Maybe you could add some of the smoky texture there to make it fit. One other thing I liked about this piece was adding the rat to make it fit with the plague. It's a small detail, but it really helps to know what you're talking about.

  6. I am really loving your coloring technique with photoshop. It's beautiful and it has retained it's traditional sense despite being digital painting. I missed that in mine, but you got it spot on! Also, as already said, great character design. I totally applaud you for not being too lazy to put something in the background too! The other character definitely add to the piece feeling "finished". Great job! I know myself and a lot of other immature artists would tend to leave a background empty.

  7. She is pretty sassy :) It gives a different perspective on the idea of the plague. I like how you played with the atmosphere too with the plague doctors being fuzzier in the bg. The smoke is also pretty sweet-- it looks like the round brush tool?

This definitely has some sort of narrative to it, though I'm not sure what. Maybe she has the plague, but the plague doctors think she's "smokin' hot"? lol lame joke.

  8. I love the subtle green that you've put in here face. it seems like a welcome color and I could see you adding it in small ways to the guys in the back. I love the smoky atmosphere as well and think that your character choices in the background feel really ominous. It would be great to see a little of your linework show up in the folds of her outfit more? I know her dress is really dark, so they get a little lost, but maybe you could change the color of the lines to lighter? I love the haziness of it. it feels really atmospheric.

The last thing is - maybe add one more color to the background (Maybe that green again? ) so it feels just as full as the character in the front? I love the subtle coloring, so having a toned down shift in the bkgrd would be awesome.

  9. haha i love the title "sassy plague lady"
This overall feels super nice! i love the grunginess of it all. I liek how it looks like she may be the actual plague and is choosing a victim. My only suggestion to you is to maybe add a bit more of the grittiness that you have on the woman to the creeps in the background.
