Rescue? NOPE.

Progress shots

Rescue mission gone wrong.

  1. I think the vignettes make it just a little bit too dark. I'd either lower the opacity on the vignette layer or brighten the overall image. I really like the images though. Very dramatic!

  2. That landscape looks amazing! And the grass in the foreground is really nicely rendered. Why did you get rid of your moon?? I wish that the moon and way-background from your last progress shot showed a bit more in the finals. Some glow from the fire on the grass (in the last shot) would be great. Awesome job!

  3. I like how dark and foreboding this is, but it might be a little too dark? I didn't even see the car until I looked at the progress shots! You did a really great job on the sky, though!

I also think the search lights could work a little better if they are more painted!

  4. I really like how dark + ominous the first scene is; it sets the tone. I wish, though, on the second + third ones the lower left corner were brightened up some so we could see the action better! especially the fire! otherwise, I think you included the right amount of detail in the background; the foreground grass is really nice.

  5. The little graphic element you added with the yellow lines really helps push this piece to a new level!

  6. This is pretty funny. I like the perspective of the helicopters and the fierceness of them. The scenes make sense too.

  7. I love the details you put into this- I only wish it was a bit brighter so you could see more of them! Especially for the fire- that should be giving off light, but it still seems so dark. The only other specific area I could think of would be the flag- perhaps changing the color or brightening it up so it isn't so easily lost in the background.

  8. Wow this is awesome! REALLY nice work on the car and helicopters! Your space set up is great and everything has room to breathe. I also like how you have the helicopters flying in, swerving in from the side. I can really tell you paid attention to detail. I would like to see brighter flames on the car though while it's on fire. It would help add an urgency and realism to the tragic event. Plus an ambient orange glow on the grass would help too!

  9. Hahahahahahaha -- that poor guy. He doesn't know what's happening! It's funny - the more I look at it, the more I am wondering why a guy with a honda FIT is looking for help in the wilderness! It seems like there's a story here that Id like to hear more about! Maybe you could tell me some day where that guy is from. It kinda seems like a regular dude is out in a field and the military comes and gets him. Besides that, I think that the space that you created looks great. You did a good job making space look deep - and you did a great job using cues for how the scene unfolds over the three panels. I love how yo'uve rendered the helecoptors and how yo'ure working with them in all threee panels. I wish that this could be lightened up a little - I like the dreariness, but it's a little hard to see the details because it's so darlk? Maybe you could make everything just a little lighter? Especially on the firey one! It seems that even in dusk, that that one would be bathed in light around the explosion - maybe the grass could have some light hitting some of thr pieces near that fireball? Also - the bottom of the helicopter in the third and last panel could have some reflections of light from that explosion, too! I like the tone of it, -its a super grey day -- almost like it's storming. The last think that would vbe interesting is if you had a little bit of a story behind the stranded guy - like- he's just wearing jeans and a tshirt -- who is he? He's obviously not from the military? I'd love to know more about him and when this takes place! Finally - you did a great job with the pacing. I love the timing of how the helicopters speed up on him. Nice detail in the foreground, too. Bobby, as always - it's been a pleasure. You're super fun and it's been great having you in class again. I'm so excited for your show at the tea garden - Those prints will be fantastic in that space!! Keep me posted on everything and thank you for the best semester ever!!! :)
