Abstraction edit

  1. I really like the way you handled the eyelashes on your Illustrator image, and the hair too for that matter. It takes the softness out of the image, twisting it into a more graphic and fearful/surprised looking picture. I know your original image didn't have much tone variation, but I think it would have been cool to see you play up the colors in the eye a bit more.

  2. You did a very nice job capturing the feel of the original image, though I would love it if they were the same scale when uploaded (both to the 500px wide?) I really like the soft gradient you added to the skin, perhaps you could have done something similar with the pinkish shadow on the bottom of the eye? Since you've done such a nice job adding shadows to all of the other pieces, it'd be lovely if you could also have added in the shadows above/below/under the eye, just to help it sit in the piece a tad better.

  3. Very nice line work. Something you could try for the pink haze in the eye is a white and pink gradient to get a smoother transition. You could also use a gradient on parts of the skin.

  4. The colors you use look very close to the original! very cool

I would look at the opacity in the inner eye area. its a bit sharp.

also you may want to look at image size for posting.

  5. I agree with the other posts about the eyeball. The pink in the eye is too harsh and could be layered with varying pinks to get a softer tone. The eyeball shape itself along with the eyebrow and other stuff is really accurate though.

  6. The soft changes in value in the first piece make it look like a totally different style than the vector, but defining those changes in value in the vector I think were done effectively.

  7. I like how the colors really pop in this and it almost seems sticky. I think that getting rid of some of the line work in the image actually made it more successful.

  8. i appreciate the fact that you didn't just draw actual geometric circles in the yellow of the pupil. may have looked too artificial otherwise

  9. considering this image was pixelated to begin with, it's neat to see how you've captured some of the linework in your final piece. I like htat you've created shapes that emphasize the shadows - it could be cool to see how you could use multiple or transparency a little more to see if they could blend subtle-ly with the background a little more. I think it'd also be cool to see another circle or two in the eye to help the gradient go a little smoother! I think you did a great job, though getting all of the small details in this - keep going! Can you resize this so it's bigger and use flicker to host your image? That way when we look at it, it looks bigger than the little guys that show up here!
