I LOVE the stylization of it. It looks like something out of an animation (it could totally work as one). I love the use of the poster edges filter you gave to your photo.
I love the way you illustrated John Henry. I feel like you made the whole image an illustration rather than merging a photograph with an illustration. The colors are pretty intense and lively, which I love.
The character is very developed and the silhouette of his hands holding the hammer works really well in contrast to the sky. With that machine thing you probably could go back sometime and add more detail to so it's as developed as John Henry.
The stylization of your characters fits wonderfully with the way that you've handled the background. I love the effect you've put on the landscape - it definitely helps merge these together. The way you've treated the machine is pretty interesting as well - i would love to see a sharp contrasted shadow added to parts of it as well - the same way that you've treated the figure (especailly in the arms!!) because it works so well with the way that you've done the both the coloring in the figure AND in the bkgrd. I also like how you've added some foreground elements - it DOES make it seem like a great scene out of an animation. I also think it would be cool to see how you could add some more blue elements into the machine - maybe its just in the shadows, or something. Right now it's the only place on the entire piece that looks like it's just partly done - and tha'ts only because it's treated much more monochromatically and flatly than everything else! Great scene. Super cool
