Final Plague Image

Here's the final with burnt edges.

  1. This is so awesome! My favorite part is the way that you applied color on the hands. The image is just so chilling! This is essentially perfect in my eyes, the only thing that is really off to me are the green petals-they remind me of the green magot things from james and the giant peach. I'm not sure if that's what you were going for, if not I would try toning them down a bit. Great work!

  2. Oooh! I love the glowyness of this! For some ungodly reason I think of Teenage Mutant ninja turtles with the green glow and the rat could be splinter or something...
    ANYWAY
It is a tiny beet too dark, it seemed to make more sense in the lower post of your screenshot. It looked lighter there.

  3. Ewwww germs. I like the kinda sciencey look from the glowing and the forms. At first I couldn't really tell it was a rat though. Maybe if you brightened the stuff around it the contrast would help a bit.

  4. I like how you made the line art white, it serves your piece very well! I love the colors on the hand and the very loose way you applied them and I would like to see that a little more cohesively through the whole piece. I agree with others that the green leaves a bit too intense, they kind of distract.
I think a few swift lines on the flower would make it pop

  5. I like what you're doing with paint strokes on the hand, but I wish there were a solid fleshy color below it because I couldn't actually tell it was a hand at first. I'm not sure about the green bits (germs, right). It just seems like they aren't important enough to be getting such an eye catching treatment, while the rat is so dark. If you want the germs to be the important part then I would push them even further. Make them bigger and maybe take away a few to get more visual potency.

  6. The original drawing for this is awesome. I love the way you're drawing the hands - really nice angles and an awesome composition. I like how you're coloring the hands as well. That pop of orange is really nice as an accent color - i could see you bringing it into some other part of the drawing to help your eye move around.
I do think it's way too dark, though. It wouldn't be hard for you to lighten up your linework, or maybe lighten everything up a little (your in progress shot was really nice, too). Just so we can see the detail you put into the pencil drawing.

I also think that the color choices for the flowers and leaves are great, but just a little too saturated - it seems less creepy, and more whimsical? Maybe desaturating them a little could help you focus more on the rat / hands and have the flowers and leaves be secondary.
