Las Plaguas is gonna ef you up

This is mine. I kept it pretty flat. I will probably go back and add some more stuff to it but for now this is it.

  1. Really cool drawing, but yeah...could use some more. It's looking a little empty. The flatness doesn't bother me really. Maybe if you just throw a texture over it, that might give it another layer.

  2. I really like how the focus of the piece is divided amongst the major elements. I also enjoy the amount of detail in the line work of the piece, especially the flies. One thing that I think could be improved on would be to have a small colored border around the edge of the piece, so that you can tell where it ends against a white background. Another thing that I liked about this piece is the way that the skull was drawn. I really gives a good sense that it is alive.

  3. I think if you had a mostly solid dark background or like a slate gradient with a bit of texture it wouldn't look as empty and you wouldn't need to add anything. I really like the graphic look, it would be a sweet shirt. It kinda bothers me that the fish is a little higher than the sheep.

  4. I really enjoy this, it almost looks like it would be awesome on a tshirt. I really like the red circle in the background it plays well with the green flies and it keeps your eye moving around the piece. I personally don't think you need to add too much more to it, the flatness looks good.
Yet maybe if you added some value to just the skull? Then I feel like it would really pop.

  5. I really like the design of this piece. I would just say add more maybe texture as well as darks and lights for contrast.

  6. This is solid but if you wanted to push it further you could look at some of the elements you're using now and apply them to more of the piece:

The isolated circles on the goat and fish and how they relate to the skull - can the skull have a circle too? Maybe give the thorns a white border too? The flies could each have color circle outlines too - maybe with red and multiply set so you can see the layers - maybe different shades of red. A light background texture could help define the border.

  7. A t-shirt, or as a tattoo as well. I dig flat images too. I think they are just as valid. This image has some really nice graphic qualities. I like the colors you've chosen, but I think your thorns could be a little more menacing. The flies are rendered really well, but I'm a little bummed that the front most fly gets cut off. I think you're piece would be better compositionally if you were to finish him out. And kill the random black line on the side.
    Otherwise, super sweet.

  8. Great drawing to begin with! I love the graphic-ness of it. I like the idea of keeping with the shapes, but think you could totally push some kind of texture into those shapes. maybe something like a screen-printed texture or something, or maybe it gets a little distressed around the edge of one of the circles or something - just so it seems to mesh with your great pen drawing a little more.

I also think that it might be cool to see what would happen if you did sort of a color family kind of coloring scheme, like all reds / bugundy / mauve or something like that. It seems like a really nice graphic theme and maybe with some deep, creepy colors you could get the mood even more serious! Really nice.
