PAINTER IS NOT FO ME

I did sweaty and water. I took more of a cue from water as a pallet. My favorite one was the middle and I thought it looked the best, but I need to add more to it. Painter seriously kicked my butt, I never really paint, like ever. I kept erasing and re-doing layers. Painter you beat me.

  1. even if painter kicked your butt..i still enjoy your image. the color pallet is super sweet and the dripping from his bottom lips is sweet although i think it would be cool if you could make that drip a little more apparent cuz it kinda blends in with his lip color. I think you did a good job of painting your friend in your style as well as depicting the sweat/water colors

  2. It doesn't look bad even if you hate it. I'd add more highlights because in general it's really dark. You're totally going the right direction though. Maybe the paper color was a bit on the dark side to start?

  3. I don't think it looks as bad as you think! I could see that you were having some super epic battle with it but it's not that bad! Just keep pushing it and I feel like it could work out really well.
Keep truckin don't let Painter destroy you!!!

  4. I think you're right about the second one being the best, and I'd encourage you to keep trying, because the really does look like a good base to build upon. In order to move out of the all blue color palette you can try using a different color for the darker areas/shadows and/or the highlights. Just keep trying to build up your layers, maybe lower the opacity of the brushes so that it blends more if that makes it easier for you.

  5. I am super happy that you're still working with it - even though its a pain! I think it's totally worth it. It will definitely get easier if you give it a chance! I love your original linework and the colors you put on your underpainting. I think you could probably work really blocky and just start using painter that way - it would be similar to what you do in other programs, but it would give you the chance to put in someextra details with the type of medium or brushstrokes! I love your characters, as always - and I think the color palette that you're working with is great as a tonal piece! Keep with it! I know it's frustrating, but it's "character building" and it WILL get better!!!
