All ninjas throw up the horns when they ride dragons

  1. THIS IS SO AWESOME. I laughed my butt off (in my head cause were in class) when i saw the last one. Your characters tie in really well with your background. I love how the dragon wraps around the building when he's about to "attack" the ninja (and just the fact the dragon looks like Rapotr)
I know you've said you hated painter but your stuff is pretty good in it if you didn't get so angry at the program I think you could beat it into submission.

  2. HAHAHA, OH YOU.

The textures you got are really cool! And the environment looks sweet. Nice colours. I think you should change the colour intensity of the characters as they get farther away from the foreground...other than that, sweet!

    DRAGONS AND NINJAS, FRIENDS FOREVER.

  3. I lold

The dragon is probably the best part, his face is hiiiilarious always. It would be nice to see one of the characters or a new one interacting with some of the scenery. I really like the texture too, it looks like a kid's book kinda thing. The purple on the dragon doesn't seem to go with the colors suuuuper well but you could fix that in photoshop. Nice stuff.

  4. Ha this is such a fun piece, you can totally feel the movement with the dragon flying through. I feel like there is a bit more rendering you can do, the coloring feels a bit inconsistant as some of it is super flat and a lot of it has that rough texture. Very fun story, nice work!

  5. You have a great stylized cartoon look here. I can picture your characters and the background actually moving as an animation.

  6. This be nice, son. The colors are really reflective of asian architecture and sculpture. The narrative is super cute. My one crit is that all of your shapes seem pretty flat because there's no real shadow/highlights to them. I would try to incorporate some cool and warm variations of tone to really round out the trees and give them the feeling of fullness. Unless you were going for an aesthetic. Because I think this piece would be really cool as cut-paper in the future.
    Good work.

  7. I really like the color palette that you chose for this piece. It makes the image really appealing and fun to look at. I also like the progression of your story. Everything works together really smoothly and makes it very clear to read. The only thing I think could be improved on would be to add more panels to it to extend the story. Overall, though, I really like this piece a lot.

  8. I love all the texture in this! Though with the mountain, I think it would be cool if there was a slight blue haze laid over it to make it look farther away. I really like the way you drew the ninja and dragon (and the whole overall scene) because they all really mesh together. In the second and third scene, the ninja's scarf gets lost, so either his scarf or the pagoda roofs should be maybe a darker red? I would totally throw up the horns too if I was riding a dragon.

  9. nice Reptar Dragon. Seriously though your dragon is sweet. Your color choices are really nice. These images work great sequentially, which I'm sure is what you were going for. Good job!

  10. Haaa. I am digging the vivid colors and how fun these pieces are.

Nice background. The textured brushes work well on the left tree leaves. The building and other trees could maybe benefit from the same texture treatment. The story sequence makes sense and I like the placing of the characters but think you could make them stand out by giving them a darker shading as they are further away then hitting us with the explosive colors when they get closer.

  11. You totally made a luscious background. This looks fantastic. I told you once already, but I love the texture and I got all excited about the sponge brush once you told me about it!!! yeah for sponge texture!!! I really hope you had a good time working with this stuff in painter- I think this is a great program for you and the way that you handled this is great. Please keep doing this!

I love the twist in your story at the end! Surprise! Dragon and Ninja = friends! I think it would have been really cool to see you put some of that fantastic texture into the characters a little more, too! Mabye you could do a tonal thing on the dragon as well so he seems to be made out of something different!

As always, I loved having you in class! you're hilarious and you bring fantastic sunshine into the world! :D I always love your comments and storytelling from the back of the room - it is definitely a highlight of class for me!!! You're super fun and very talented. I hope you keep doing digital and definitely, keep in touch!!!
