Cowboiz MASON SKLAR

Woo!

I'm really really happy with the background, but for some reason I just couldn't get into drawing the cowboys which is SUPER weird for me. But overall I like it.

  1. The background is great! I think with the farthest trees you could have lightened them up just a little bit more. In the first character scene, I think it would help if you made the cowboy doing that 'cover your eyes' thing when you're trying to see something when it's sunny out. That way, it would be easier to tell that he's looking at the approaching cowboy. It's hard to tell with the small images, but it looks like the small cowboy hasn't moved from the second to third scene. It would help if you could see a gun smoking because in the last scene, it's not clear if the cowboy just had a heart attack or got shot...

  2. That last panel seriously made me crack up,it is really funny. I really like your graveyard scene, it is really well done, and has a great composition. It would be nice to see a little more movement out of your characters though, maybe have him peering out with his hand over his face trying to see the guy on the horse in the second panel. All in all though it is a really funny and well done piece.

  3. I really like the lighting that you used for this piece. Everything looks like it would be the right color if it were an actual environment in real life. I also like how you used your characters to tell a very clear story. One thing I think cold be improved would be to change the colors on the cowboy in the foreground a little to match the background. Though, overall, I really like this piece and think it is very well done.

  4. Nice -- I love the background, and the clarity of your narrative.
It would be nice to see just a tiny bit more gesture in the foreground cowboy, just because he doesn't change between the first 2 frames.. And also he doesn't have a shadow and the cross does which bugs me. But otherwise it's great. I really like how you dealt with the trees in the far distance, and the difference in scale between the two characters.

  5. "Oh hey who's that?" BAM! DEAD!
    I like it!
Your background is so pretty! I can tell you didn't like how the cowboys turned out. I do though enjoy the scale you have them at. If you just play with their shadowing they would work. Plus maybe fix the top coyboy's arms a lil, since the background looks so magical and realistic he looks a little too cartoony. But the rest of him fits!
Keep workin it! it looks great!

  6. I'm in denial with your statement of not being able to get into something with cowboys. Your backgroudn is really nice, it has a nice amound of depth. I wish the cowboy in the foreground moved just a little bit in the two seens he's just standing in, it may be cool to show him getting hit by the impact. nice wooork duuude.

  7. I think you have a really great background with some nice little bits of texture, and your characters work well with the background. The only thing I really want to see is in the last scene have the character on the horse raising his arm clearly pointing the gun (at least that's what I assume is going on).

  9. Your background looks great! I love the small details of your space and the graveyard pieces! It's really great ot see that you also have a curve in the space where your guys can enter / exit!
I think the differnece of color in your spaces are really great, too - I love that the other cliff looks like it's made of a different kind of rock.

I think it would have been cool to see your guy react to the cowboy in the distance! Like - maybe he ducks out of the way and then falls over later? You did such a great job with he bkgrd that it would be awesome to see the people be a little more animated! Maybe the super foreground space could have a little more texture, too ?

Also - I just wanted to tell you it's been great getting to know you in class! You are such a hard worker and it shows that you take your projects really seriously! I loved seeing what you've been making, and I really like that you've taken the extra time to really get into the programs. I'm super happy you discovered painter, too - you're doing awesome with it and I really hope you keep going!! Have an awesome summer and please come back and visit next year!!!

  10. Nice work!

The background is intriguing and really sets the stage for something interesting. It has a ton of depth and good lighting. The story sequence works well and my only real critique would be to maybe show a bit more change in the characters from the second to third sequence. Maybe add a small tuft of smoke from the gun shot or some blood drops or something but that's just my opinion. Great stuff.
