WOOOO!

  1. I love your silhouettes in this! The wolves in the second and third picture play really well with the lighting. But maybe a few highlights here and there would help? Also I love your color choices of the red hood against the olive green.

  2. OH SHE DEAD

    SHE SO DEAD

This is really pretty and your trees look really nice and you WERKED that foreground/middleground/background stuff and the characters look like the light actually affects them as they move through the environment.

Can this be anymore perfect? I THINK NOT. D:<

  3. The atmosphere you created with the background is sooo lovely. It's dark and dramatic but still somehow feels soft and whimsical like all your work.

The movement of the characters is very simple -- But I think that's really appropriate in this case. You don't need anything more to tell the story.

The only thing I can think to change would maybe be to add some small things -- foliage in the foreground? (It's a bit bare when the wolves aren't there.) Or maybe it's just bringing out some more obvious textures. But even as is, it's really beautiful and perfect

  4. These series of illustrations look great. The line work of the wood grains on the trees and foggy greenish sky creates a mysterious environment. The blending of the red on little red riding-hood looks nice also. My favorite one is the third one.

  5. Yeah!

    - Background -

Love the depth of your background and the creepy vibe the color palette gives the woods. Good use of value!

    - Sequence -
The red robe figure connects instantly with everyone who knows the story (which is all of us)and we know trouble is on it's way. I really like how the silhouettes of the wolves appear and almost act like blocked out tree shapes > ! <
I think you could improve on the final scene by muting some of the colors toward the edges of the wolves. Super nice illustrations!

  6. Your uses of atmospheric perspective on the trees as they get farther away is really great. Gives a great illusion of space.I also really like your color choices.Oh, and that girl is so going to die

  7. I like how clearly everything in your image reads. Having everything in almost silhouette works really well and adds to the dramatic feeling of the piece. I also like your character placement a lot. I think it makes the progression of the story very clear and easy to read. One thing that I think could be improved on would be to add a little more detail to the girl and the wolves. I think that would make them stand out even more. Overall, though, I really think you did a good job on this piece, especially the mood of it.

  8. She's not going to make it, is she? You have great tonal difference between the foreground and background trees.

  9. The background atmosphere is great! The colors give it this creepy look because of the different shades of green. And it's even better because Little Red pops out and complements the green perfectly! I love the silhouettes in the second scene, but I think it would look sweet if there was a bit of highlight on the edges of their fur. Last scene: oh noes!

  10. She done gonna get eated!

I really like the cropping with the trees, it's really interesting to look at. For some reason between the 2nd and 3rd the dark foreground trees seem to get lighter which is kinda jarring for some reason. I like your tree texture a lot too. I feel like you could stick in a few more trees way off in the distance. Also i liked your leaves when you had those in.

  11. I think my favorite part is at the end when the basket drops. It's absolutely perfect and says so much about Hood's emotional reaction without us even seeing her face. Also, it's great how you kept everything desaturated tonally except for your main character. It keeps the focus on her as she moves through the picture. And way to fade out those trees girl! Great lighting. Great Job!

  12. I really like how you use the scenes to populate the deep space that you've created in the background. Seeing little red riding hood and the wolves behind all those layers of trees really makes me believe the 3-dimentionality of the scene. You might consider lightening one of the two darkest trees though, because for me the near symmetry of the trees is a little distracting.

  13. The atmosphere in this is AMAZING. I love the way that the ghosty trees fade off into the distance! It definitely feels really dark and foreboding in there! I would not want to be in that forest. I like how you are setting up the bkrd so that it makes all of us want to run quickly into the light!

I think your story telling works really well, too and I like that you can start to see the characters in the light more and more as they go back in space- great job with working through the scene! I think it would be cool to see you play with textures in the animals - maybe there is a glint of light that hits their greasy hair - maybe you could make little red's hood have it's own fabricky texture, too! I also think she might be able to look like she 's running away a little more on the last one!

Also - I just wanted to say thanks for being awesome in class! You're super fun and always in such a good mood! it's Contagious!! and it's been awesome to have you in class and see what you've made! I really hope I get to have you in another class - I loved the portrait piece you did- it was great! Take care and keep in touch!!! :)
