This is a good balance between gritty and finessed. I like how loose the shading is and how chalky it feels. When you add the glow and neon-like colors it takes us to another dimension of what this piece could be. well done
the glow makes this piece for me; it adds just the right amount of atmosphere. I also like how much the cityscape is pushed back in the final compared to how sudden it is in earlier shots.
With the glow grabbing the attention of whoever is viewing this, I don't think the background needs to be defined. If it was, then that would take the attention away from the actually subject. Very well executed.
I like how you mixed the elements of cute and creepy I feel like i want to walk over and touch it but the mask and spike thing make me second guess that decision. The over all composition is very nice really like your soft tones of blue and the textures. The line work is merged very well with the color i don't even notice it.
I like the blurry background and the shines and the colors and the atmosphere and everything about things so much! I think just like making the light parts a little more in focus would make the blurriness and the emotion of the picture out a bunch more! Hehe I really like your original drawing though so much, it really is thoughtful about each stroke and value, it must of taken forever!
I like your creature and the creepiness you get with the blue color on it. It looks like the creature is holding a stick or wand and it makes me kind of want that to glow as well.. maybe lighting the piece up a little more so you can add more details to the background.
You did a really nice job with the lighting on this one. It really looks super luminous. I especially love the glow around the whole bear - and that the glow is also coming from inside his mask in his eyes. I love the focus of the piece and how you're using the color of the linework to enhance where we look. Especailly how you use it on the highlights. It looks amazing. One piece I think is also great is where you put his wand thing (or whatever that is) in silhouette and it's cut out of the haze. The only thing I would add is maybe just a little bit of something on the ground - stones? shadows of sticks? garbage? something? cobblestone? becasue that light is so great, i would love a small detail or two down there that gets hit by that light - and then has a mini shadow because of it,. The last thing I think is that it migt be neat to add something in the middle ground - even if it was super subtle. It feels like some kind of something there would help make that space feel more deep and not as flat between him! it's almost like he's on a stage! also - love the mini stars. Great job!
I really love the glow you got in this image. Is is cute yet dark and creepy. I really love the line work.
ReplyDeleteI really like the "chalky" style of drawing you have. The glow also looks really nice.

ReplyDeletethe glow you used is really cool, so although environment is really dark, we can see the line work and details on the monster
