  2. This is really nice. The reflection on the water is suuuper well done- very believable! You did a lovely job with making the aurora lights look all soft and glowy. The lighting behind the mountain is really well done too. I think the edge of the lake closest to us looks a bit strange- perhaps a bit of a transition between the water and the shore might help strengthen it?

  4. I really like how you solved this. The way you used the mesh works very well. I also like the fact that you put the reflection of the lights on the ground.

The only think I would look at is the ground. maybe if there was a little texture on it or something. not too much so it distracts from the lights.

    again very nice!

  5. the choice of having the lake to include a reflective element was smart; it pulls the piece together nicely. I also like the hints of color on the tops of the mountains.

  7. Nice touch of having a reflection your skills at using the the gradient mesh are really good. I'm glad you didn't add to much to the mountians since it's more of a silhouette and it might distract from the Aurora.
    Good work.

  8. Holy whoa, you have done a great job with this! I don't know how you got the gradient mesh to have transparent bits like that, but this is really super cool! I get a little confused with that darker portion of the lake - if it's supposed to be a reflection of the mountains, the angle isn't correct and it should be lighter because the reflection of an object should not be more contrasty than the object itself! Still, this is really awesome. Great job!

  9. COLE. this is very good. I'm pretty sure just like most people, I knew what this was before even reading the title. Kudos!

  10. This piece is awesome. I love how you did the aurora affect and the reflection in the water. The only part that might need more work is the ground on the left side. It makes your picture look a little flat on that side. Other than that, the rest is great!

  11. how lovely! i really love your project. i remember you telling me about this and i think you executed it very well. i like how you can see the reflection of the sky in the water, nice touch. the only thing i would suggest is the maybe up the contrast a little, hints of more black or making the ground darker. i think that will make it pop even more. just a thought.
    awesome job!

  12. This is really nice. I love the effects that you're using in this piece. They look nice and organic - and it really helps the effect of the northern lights. I also love the way you're treating the reflection. It looks like you've studied some reference for this, as it feels really natural in the reflective pool. I also like the way you are lighting up the sky - with the use of your gradient around the moon and how it extends to the side. Is there a way that you would add some more textural bumps or something to the ground in the foreground? I wonder if you could add some bits and pieces as the ground gets closer to us that could mimic the shapes that you have in the mountains? Or, if there are a couple natural disturbances in that large gradient field ? Like some rocks... or maybe some dips in the land? I think it looks like the edge of a beach, and there might be a way to incorporate something subtle there, so it fits the way your'e treating that organic shapes in the sky. Do you know what I mean?

Great job on this. Really nice.
